If you’re a fan of classic Parisian dining spots and traditional French food, La Petite Chaise is a must-visit. As one of the oldest and most historic restaurants in Paris, it’s been on my list for quite some time. So, when I had the chance to experience it during Fashion Week, I couldn’t resist. Here’s my honest review of La Petite Chaise, a charming yet quirky Parisian gem.

Walking into La Petite Chaise, you’re immediately transported into a world where old-world Parisian charm meets modern-day chic. The eclectic vibe of the restaurant is undeniably stylish, yet warm and inviting. With cozy interiors and windows that face the enchanting Rue de Grenelle, La Petite Chaise offers a cozy yet vibrant dining experience in the heart of Paris.

Despite being a small and intimate restaurant, La Petite Chaise radiates a lively energy that makes you feel like you’re in the center of Parisian fashion. It's no surprise that this historic restaurant is a favorite spot for jet-setters and the fashion crowd during major events like Fashion Week. The chic Parisians from the 7th arrondissement and visitors from all over the world were dining here, adding to the exclusive and fashionable atmosphere.

The Service: Friendly but Slow and Unorganized

While the ambiance and clientele at La Petite Chaise were on point, the service left much to be desired. Although the staff was friendly and attentive, the service was notably slow and disorganized. Our appetizer took a full hour to arrive, which set the tone for the evening. By the time we were ready for dessert, we were already exhausted and ready to call it a night.

The slower pace and lack of organization made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience, especially given the high expectations associated with a restaurant of this caliber. As much as I appreciated the warm hospitality, I think there is definitely room for improvement in this area to enhance the overall dining experience.

The Food: Good, but Not Extraordinary

As for the food, it was decent, but not mind-blowing. We started with an artichoke appetizer to share, which was flavorful but didn’t stand out as anything exceptional. For the main course, we opted for the turbot with fries, which was fine, but nothing to rave about. To put it simply, it was “senza infamia e senza lode” – good, but not memorable.

La Petite Chaise undoubtedly has a lot of charm and an innate Parisian allure. The chic clientele, timeless atmosphere, and fashionable energy make it a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the essence of Parisian dining. However, the slow service and average food left us feeling like the experience could have been elevated with a few improvements.

If you're planning to visit, I recommend going for the ambiance and the people-watching experience rather than expecting exceptional food or quick service. It’s a place where history, style, and chic vibes take center stage.
